TweakUI 2000 is a very handy Control Panel add-in which allows you to fine tune your Windows user interface. TweakUI installs as a new applet in Control Panel. It lets you customize over a dozen different aspects of Windows.
You can: select the default icons that appear on your desktop (such as the Recycle Bin and Network Neighborhood), select which drives should appear in "My Computer", select which Control Panel applets and extensions should appear in Control Panel, decide which document types should appear in the "New" context menu, adjust various mouse settings (including having your mouse act in X-Windows style by activating any window it passes over), set a variety of Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer options, log on automatically at startup, decide whether audio or data CDs should play automatically, repair different areas of Windows (including icons, file associations, hotkeys, system files, and temporary Internet files), select boot settings (including disabling the Windows splash screen, enabling function keys, and displaying the boot menu for a specific number of seconds), clean out your Add/Remove Programs list, and protect your privacy by clearing the document history, Internet Explorer history, Find Files history, and other history lists.<
