1. The Academy award winner "Chariots of Fire". Even Americans have heard it although very few of them know who composed it. Well, time to learn!
2. Conquest of Paradise, main theme. Simply majestic.
3. Theme from Antarctica - just hear it. Just hear it.
4. Message - track#9 from the great album Direct. I just couldn't cut it too short, I'm in love with it... Well, download it before it's gone. It's very... dramatic, I guess.
5. 12 o'clock - an extract from Heaven and Hell, part 2. Heaven and Hell is an unique album. It's completely different from everything you have and will ever hear. HIGHLY recommended, especially if you fancy yourself as someone who's into really good music. It is unconventional, I agree, but that's what makes it so great. 12 o'clock is my personal favorite, it's a very beautiful melody. Every time I listen to it I think of cemeteries, ghosts, people who aren't here anymore and whom I miss. It's just... well, it's 12 o'clock.
6. Procession Track 8 from the wonderful album The City. It cetrainly deserves its name and has the most powerful and unforgettable ending that you'll ever hear.
7. The City Track 1 from the same album. Another gem. Very calm and soothing. Get it now!
8. Theme from Bitter Moon. Track 12 from the new album, Reprise. The piece is very good, one of those that haunt you for weeks once you've heard them. It's dreamy, it kind of floats, and if you're in the right type of mood it can give you lots to think about. It definitely works for me, when I'm sad it makes me a hundred times sadder.
9. Another theme from Bitter Moon. This is even better than the first Moon theme that I listed. It's from the extremely rare Memoires collection so grab it before I've changed my mind :) Anyway, this is one of my favorites. I listen to it over and over and over and I don't seem to get enough of it. It is not just sad (again, this is not the right word when you're describing a Vangelis piece), it's heartbreaking. At least in my humble opinion.
10. Theme The Plague. Track 15 from Reprise. I was blown away when I first heard it. It's calm, sad, kind of solemn and very touching, maybe because the singer is a little boy.
*More coming soon!!
