Below, you can find more detail about our program... Bamboo Afternoon Part 1We can find bamboo plants almost everywhere in Indonesia. Bamboo is becoming a part of the necessities of life for most people in Indonesian society, especially in the villages. They use bamboo for walls and floors of their houses, for underlease of their beds, kitchen utensils and for other furniture. Even rebung (young bamboo-plant) can be used as foodstuff. Khitanan (circumcision) In villages, boys of ten years old who will be circumcised are given many kinds of performances in order to give the boys happiness. On this program we will show you a situation when friends of the boy to be circumcised are carrying the boys along in a procession. We will also show you children's dance accompanied by traditional angklung which based on salendro scale and playing old sundanese songs. Arumba Arumba is bamboo music instrument which was spesifically created to be played in form of a band and can be played in few number of players. This instrument performed for the first time in 1970. ARUMBA is a contraction of "A"- Alunan (waves), "RUM"-rumpun (bush/shrub), "BA"-Bambu (bamboo) it means Alunan Rumpun Bambu or "The Waves of The Bamboo Shrub", enjoy. Tari Topeng or The Mask Dance First part (not wear a mask) Represents "Layang Kumitir" messanger of Queen Kencana Wungu from Majapahit investigating the situation at Blambangan Kingdom. Second Part (wear a mask) Represents the king Menak Jinggo from Blambangan Kingdom, who seems to take agreat pride in himself and scorns athirst. |
