Apollo Energy Corporation bought the Kamaoa Wind Farm in October 1994. The wind farm has 37 Mitsubishi 250 kW wind machines at South Point on the Island of Hawaii. Built in 1986 on 100 acres of cattle range land by Kamaoa Wind Energy Partners, this wind farm has a total capacity of 9.3 MW and furnishes approximately 15,000 MWh of electricity per year to Hawaii Electric Light Company, enough to power about 7,000 homes.
