SANCTUM OF
THE BATTLE ANGELS
Let all mortal flesh keep
silence,
and with fear and trembling
stand;
ponder nothing earthly
minded,
for with blessing in his
hand,
Christ our God to earth
descendeth,
our full homage to demand
King of kings, yet born
of Mary,
as of old on earth he
stood,
Lord of lords, in human
vesture -
in the body and the blood-
He will give to all the
faithful
his own Self for heavenly
food.
|
Rank
on rank the host of heaven
spreads its vanguard on
the way
As the Light of Light
descendeth
from the realms of endless
day,
That the powers of hell
may vanish
as the darkness clears
away..
At his feet the six-winged
seraph;
Cherubim with sleepless
eye,
Veil their faces to the
Presence,
as with ceaseless voice
they cry,
Alleluya, Alleluya,
Alleluya, Lord most high.

First let us become very silent.
Let us still the shouting of our brains,
Let us still the thundering of our hearts,
Let us be still and aware of our very flesh,
of our body,
of our breath, in and out,
the sound and feel of it,
of the beating of our hearts,
of the pulse in our hands and of our feet,
of the energy in our heads, in our palms,
in the souls of our feet..
we relax, we are safe, we are silent.

Round us are the witnesses. We are with
Angels, and with Archangels,
with all the company of heaven, heaven,
so close to us that it is with us every
moment of every day, l
ongoing for an invitation to enter the
fray with us and on our behalf.

No matter what the cry of our lonely
heart,
the horror of the scene we have just left,
the dreariness of the travail we are in,
the terror of the memories that afflict
us
here in this crypt,
in the safety of this sanctuary,
we are safe,
we can be silent,
we can be collected once again.

It is indeed right,
at all times, and in all places,
that we should give thanks to Thee,
O Lord.
Therefore, let us lay aside whatever
besieges us,
whether from within or from without,
and lift up our hearts,
in the company of the Angels and of
the ArchAngels, and of the whole congregation of Heaven let us say:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Thou, Lord
of Hosts,
The whole earth is filled with your
glory,
Glory be to Thee on High.
