In May 2002, after having been a chain smoker (2
packs per day or more) since the early sixties, I was trying to motivate myself
to quit.
Although I knew that I was slowly killing myself with this nicotine habit, I
just couldn't decide to part with it.
One evening, as I was leaving a movie theater with
my wife, I noticed a beautiful Honda Shadow Sabre parked near the exit.
I had not owned a motorcycle since 1966 (too busy raising a family, etc., etc.).
37 years down the road and yet my heart
skipped a beat each time I examined a nice scoot (no matter what model or make).
As I was ogling the bike, I mentioned to my SO that
I smoked more than what this bike cost brand new.
"You smoke more than that honey!. Since I have met you, I'm willing to
bet that you have smoked many Corvettes, etc."
Well, that was it! On the next day, I was at a Honda
dealer showroom purchasing a brand new (black of course)
Honda Shadow Sabre along with a Memphis shades windshield and leather saddlebags.
Compared to my rides in the sixties, this could be a Mercedes Benz (electric starter, etc., etc.).

Note: As of June 2003, I am still a nonsmoker. I
promised myself to sell the bike if I started smoking again.
No way!!! Motorcycles are great for my health!!
