WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE CAMBRIDGE CHURCH OF CHRIST
The Cambridge Church of Christ was planted in August 1985 by the Central Church of Christ (Baltimore, MD). The Cambridge congregation currently numbers about 75 members. Our order of services is listed below.
We welcome you and pray that you will feel comfortable and welcome.
We hope you will be impressed by the simplicity of our services and
that you will be drawn closer to God as we attempt to provide an atmosphere of reverence in which to worship.
THE WORSHIP IS SIMPLE & BIBLICAL
All that we do is governed by the Word of God and we observe only those
things contained in it. We attempt to duplicate the pattern of the early church of the New Testament in everything we do.
SINGING
Our worship in song is vocal only. No instruments of music are used.
We only "sing and make melody in the heart…" ( Ephesians 5:19 ; Colossians 3:16 ). We feel that it would be an addition to God's word if we added instruments of music.
TEACHING
The teaching is to instruct and encourage in the ways of righteousness.
The scriptures are complete and furnish us completely in every good work
( II Timothy 3:16,17 ).
CONTRIBUTION
The collection or contribution, is taken only on Sunday. Each one is to give
proportionately of his means as he has been prospered and as he purposes in
his heart ( I Corinthians 16:1,2 ; II Corinthians 9:7 ). It is voluntary and
is used for the Lord's work.
THE LORD'S SUPPER
The communion, as it is also called, is observed in memory of Christ.
The men at the table will pray and give thanks for the bread and then have
it passed to everyone in the audience. The same procedure will be followed for the fruit of the vine. This is repeated every first day of the week at this congregation. This is the highlight of Christian worship ( I Corinthians 11:23,24 ; Acts 20:6,7 ).
PRAYER
The prayers are designed to praise and honor God and to thank Him for His blessings as well as request His continued care over us.
WE ARE CHRISTIANS ONLY
As many are searching for a church they are dismayed by the division and confusion in the religious world. There are so many groups with so many names and creeds. The churches of Christ have no creed but Christ, accept no book but the bible and wear no name but Christian. We believe that when we follow the Bible only, we will be Christians only.
