Karl Marx & Frederick Engels - The Communist Manifesto (1848):

The Communist Manifesto is a small pamphlet co-written by Karl Marx & Frederick Engels and published in 1948 in German. This pamphlet outlining the concerns for the working class and the need for revolution against the bourgeois, was later translated into well over 30 languages and released in many editions all over the world.

Reason for Importance

The Communist Manifesto is the first defining doctrine for communism. It really does not give the particulars as to how communism would work in society. Instead, it outlines the reasons for moving away from political and economical systems that prevent the creation of a great society and in addtion, it states the means for achieving this task; through revolution.

Although we have yet to see (and some feel we may never see) communism in its true form in any main stream society, it is important to understand how it could possible evolve.
