Static Challenges Static Challenges may not be relented by the challengee. The initiator of the Challenge may retest normally, however, the subject may only retest by Overbidding. Simple Tests On a Simple Test, the challenger wins on a win or tie; this applies to staking tests as well. Retests Characters may retest Challenges with appropriate Abilities, Disciplines, or Overbidding. What is appropriate or not is the sole discretion of the Storyteller. Retests may be cancelled if the opposing player uses the same Ability or Discipline or a counteracting Ability or Discipline (i.e., Brawl vs. Brawl or Brawl vs. Dodge). Willpower may be used to retest only in Mental or Social Challenges. Ties When a Challenge results in a tie, players compare their current Traits, not maximums. Players need not reveal all their Traits when comparing. Rapid-Fire Challenges After failing a Mental or Social Challenge, players must wait at least ten (10) real-time minutes before making the same challenge again. Awareness Awareness is a special Ability. It cannot be used to retest a challenge. Awareness can be used reflexively to notice the use of Dementation, Dominate, or Presence on oneself. If the Discipline use is successful, the target spends one (1) level of Awareness after one (1) hour has passed and engages in a Static Mental Challenge.
