Animals you can sponsor

When M.A.M.A. is called to rescue an abondoned animal, we never know what we will find until the rescue is completed and the animal is examined and tested by a veterinarian. Although most of our rescued animals can be mentally and physically rehabilitated for adoption, there is a percentage of cats that are feral and some that test positive for FELV (Feline Leukemia) and/or FIV (Feline Immuno-virus). Many of the abandoned dogs we rescue are older and are considered unadoptable by prospective owners. M.A.M.A. has 39 Special Needs animals that live with some of our compassionate volunteers that we call "Special Caregivers". You can help by sponsoring one of these animals. With your donation of $20 you will receive a picture and additional information about your special needs animal.

The following stories are about a few of our M.A.M.A. animals our volunteers care for until death do us part or until an angel comes along. If you want to be an angel and adopt one of the special needs animals please contact us for additional information.

photo of Manny Manny, a beautiful male German Shepard, was rescued from the side of the road after being hit by a car. The Vet determined that he had a broken leg and was about 6 years old. That was 2 years ago and he is still with us. He is very happy and healthy, loves to take long walks and go for rides. He always has a toy in his mouth and love in his heart. For Manny to be adopted he would need a fenced-in yard and could not be left inside alone.
photo of Snoopi Snoopi, as a kitten, was rescued from a barn and diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). This condition occurs in kittens in utero when the mother is exposed to Distemper. The part of the brain that controls their coordination does not fully develop. This results in some degree of exaggerated gait, head tremors, and difficulty in judging distance. Cats usually accommodate well with this disability and make wonderful indoor companions. Snoopi is beautiful, loving and full of personality. To watch her play is better than a high speed chase thriller!
photo of Cali Cali wants to love but is afraid to give her heart. She is feral, but sweet. She does not like other cats and has her own room in which to live. Cali is a spayed dilute torti, about 6 years old.
photo of Golden Boys The Golden Boys are 5 year old neutered male brothers that were rescued by MAMA when abandoned in the woods. They love other cats and reside in a MAMA foster home. We had adopted the boys out, but they only seem comfortable with MAMA so they are back to stay.
photo of Patches Patches is a 6 year old spay calico cat that was rescued from the streets during a freezing winter in Maine. Patches, along with 12 other cats, was successfully taken in by MAMA. Unfortunately 3 others froze to death before the rescue was completed. Patches is semi-feral and is a happy resident in a foster home.
