Physiological Effects of Massage

There are two physiological effects of massage: mechanical and reflex. Mechanical effects are the direct physical effects of the massage techniques on the tissue they are in contact with. Reflex effects of massage are the indirect responses to touch that affect body functions and tissues through the nervous or energy systems of the body. Massage helps promote relaxation of organs and tissues of the body, thus relieving stress on the body as a whole.
