My Dogs!
Of course they have to be here. Click on the title to see the pictures! They're great! Canaan is part
German Shepherd and part Rottweiler (but she's really small... her shoulders come up to my knees).
The two puppies are Golden Retrievers, brothers from the same litter. They were born on Dec. 5, 1999.
Samson was actually Chad's dog, part Chow and part Retriever. Big, beautiful black dog...he was bigger
than Canaan, twice her size. We got the puppies after he died.

Cycling
New hobby for me. Chad has been enjoying cycling for a while and we finally got
him off his mountain bike and on a Specialized Allez 1 road bike. So I took over the
mountain bike and enjoyed the cycling but hated the bike (11 years old and 1/3 of my weight...a LOT to
pull up a hill!) So we took the plunge and got me a Trek 1000 road bike.
It's kind of gawdy (in my opinion!) but I'll replace the red handlebar tape at some point with black or
navy and when the wheels give out I'll get rid of those red rims and it will be a little better!
Chad's goal is to do some racing, donating the proceeds to the Lance
Armstrong Foundation. My goal is to help him and to get ready to do some touring in the
spring. We're thinking about touring the Georgia coast this spring and, if that works out and we like
it, we'll plan other vacations to tour various parts of the U.S. There are lots of links
for cycling on my links page.
American Sign Language
I've been interested in American Sign Language for a long time. I practice by signing songs, so I'm
better at signing than understanding someone else's signs! Oh, well. I've also started having trouble finding
words when I need them, so my husband is learning some sign language as I sign the
concept while I think of the word I want. (It's very frustrating, but he's getting good at ASL!) Here are a few good
web sites to check out if you are interested yourself:
ASL Fingerspelling ,
American Sign Language Linguistics Research ,
American Sign Language Browser
(this is really good -- Quicktime movies to show you how to make each sign.)
Judaism
I'm also interested in Judaism, the religion and the culture. We
celebrated some Jewish holidays in the Bible study we ran in Concordia, KS (
CCF) and talk a lot about what
the religion and culture were like during Biblical times. It really helps to understand what was going on
when you're trying to apply the lessons to your own life! I plan to put up a page with
some of the information we've accumulated when I get some time.
More to come...
