History
Channel - Christmas The middle of winter has long been a time of celebration
around the world. Centuries before the arrival of the man called Jesus, early
Europeans celebrated light and birth in the darkest days of winter. Many peoples
rejoiced during the winter solstice, when the worst of the winter was behind
them and they could look forward to longer days and extended hours of sunlight.
The true story of Santa Claus begins
with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in Patara, a village in
what is now Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout
Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus'
words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his
whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated
his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man.
Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those
in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.

"Christmas In CyberSpace" is here to provide the Christian perspective. God demonstrated his love for us by entering our world under the most humble of circumstances. His incarnation has made possible the most glorious of futures. If we can appreciate the significance of the infant in the manger, we have the audacious hope of someday hearing the angel choirs on the day when we, like the shepherds on that first Christmas, go to meet Him.
The wreaths were created in the same way the Christmas trees were created. For some it symbolizes the strength of life overcoming the forces of winter. Back in ancient Rome, people used decorative wreaths as a sign of victory. Some believe that this is where the hanging of wreaths on doors came from. Since these times, many wreaths have been made. Some are made for crafts, others for purely decoration, and yet others have more deeper meanings.

What is Christmas?
Why is Christmas such a big deal?
Why do people give each other presents on Christmas day?
Is December 25 really the day Jesus was born?
Why is there a small evergreen tree in your living room?
Why have you decorated this evergreen with ornaments, lights, fake snow and
Mylar plastic tinsel?
Why do you have holly draped over the mantel and staircase?
Why is mistletoe hanging over the front door?
And what about this nativity scene in the corner?
Why is there a big log in the fireplace?
Why are there poinsettias on the hearth?
And what about these fruit cakes? .................

it happens to be--although our favorite holiday season is rapidly approaching!

you enjoy looking through our pages. We have fun and interesting things for
everyone here. Our focus on this site is Christmas Music, so you will find many
pages relating to that subject including midi
files, music that you can print out of your favorite carols

Our word Christmas is derived from the Middle English usage "Christ's Mass," and central to the celebration of the Nativity was the liturgical activity which had been established by the year 600, and did not change in the Middle Ages.
T'was
the night before Christmas, and all through the shop,
The computers were whirring; they never do stop.
The power was on and the temperature right,
In hopes that the input would feed back that night
Why do we have a decorated Christmas Tree? In the 7th century a monk
from Devonshire, England, went to Germany to teach the word of God.
He did many good works there, and spent much time in Thuringia, an
area which was to become the cradle of the region’s Christmas
decoration industry.
For many families,
selection and purchase of a Christmas tree is an annual tradition.
Indeed, bringing home the tree often signals the official start of
the holiday season. Proper selection of a tree, like any other
product, will help to make the season even more enjoyable. With
today's live-tree market, healthy, fresh, fragrant, and affordable
Christmas trees are abundant and available to anyone who wishes to
have a real tree. Of course, artificial substitutes for real trees
are also readily available at commercial outlets, but these will not
be discussed in this publication.
But the trees that
grace our homes each year at Christmas are not newcomers to planet
Earth. Most have been our neighbors for centuries, predating even
the very first Christmas. So, where did these trees come from? How
did we find them? Where do they grow? How do we grow more? And do we
use them for things other than Christmas trees?
The answers to these questions and more can be found in the National
Christmas Tree Association's presentation of Christmas Tree History
and Characteristics.
We have information for all kids about the
REAL TREE industry. Growing Christmas trees, like other types of farming, is a
very rewarding way to make a living. Christmas tree farming is both a business
and a job for the farmer and his family. Christmas tree farm families know that
the REAL tree product grown on their farm symbolizes the REAL spirit of
Christmas: the faith and the hope of harmony among all the world's peoples. Join
us on our tour and learn more about life on a REAL Christmas Tree Farm.
The genetics of the seed used to grow a Christmas tree are directly related to the quality and beauty of a tree ready for market. Therefore, if you want quality Christmas trees you must begin with quality parent trees.

The lyrics of carols, and origins of the most popular Christmas carols are
included on this site. Together with additional non carols sections dedicated to
Christmas songs with music including the ever popular "White Christmas" and
traditional poems including "Twas the night before Christmas" by Clement Clarke
Moore. Christmas carols are based on Christian lyrics and relate, in the main,
to the Nativity. Christmas carols were introduced in to church services by St
Francis of Assisi in the 12th century. As for the word carols, "carol" is a
derivative of the French word caroller, the interpretation of which means
dancing around in a circle. Carol and carols, eventually came to mean not only
to dance but included the music and lyrics - hence modern Xmas Carols

In early December, 1995, I searched Lycos for "christmas carols" and the pickings were pretty slim, so I typed in lyrics for some Christmas carols. By the end of that month, over 3,200 people had visited this page. The next year, well over 10,000 people stopped by. Now the visitor count is in the hundreds of thousands!

All of these recipes are part of my Christmas time in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney, Australia. You can make these for gift-giving; use clear cellophane and tartan/Christmas ribbon and devise your own Home-Made By label. Australian standard measuring cups and spoons are used in these recipes. In Australia, cookies are called biscuits.
Gingerbread has been baked in Europe for centuries. In some places, it was a soft, delicately spiced cake; in others, a crisp, flat cookie, and in others, warm, thick, steamy-dark squares of "bread," sometimes served with a pitcher of lemon sauce or whipped cream. It was sometimes light, sometimes dark, sometimes sweet, sometimes spicy, but it was almost always cut into shapes such as men, women, stars or animals, and colorfully decorated or stamped with a mold and dusted with white sugar to make the impression visible.
Traditional Bobalky or Loksa
Bobalky at home was always made with fresh bread dough, but today, we use
frozen bread roll dough from the supermarket. Either prepare or buy about 1
pound of bread dough.
Upholding this tradition, Americans have called on Butterball Turkey for high-quality and great taste since 1954. at the top of the stairs just outside their bedroom. This particular tree, one

some of the craft ideas that we have had success with as well as many ideas that
have been sent to me by visitors to this site. If you have any great craft

Thank you
for visiting this page. A few years ago my children's Sunday School was
desperately looking for a play to present for their Christmas Program. Because
of the size and the age group of their Sunday School all of the plays that they
looked at in books either required too many characters or was for older age
groups.

cook!)
