Welcome to The ORIGINAL UNOFFICIAL Grant Shaud Filmography.

Where applicable, I have included comments on the film (or whatever it happens to be) and a link to the Internet Movie Database page for said film (or whatever it happens to be). Unfortunately I have not seen all these. I hope to rectify that situation shortly. If there isn't a review, I probably didn't see it. Now, without further ado!

FILMS:

The Crow: Salvation -- Walsh

At the time of this writing this movie has not been released. One website I saw said it was slated to be released in May of this year (2000). Another said the release date had been 'pushed up' 2 months. That would mean it would be released in March (this is March). Unless they meant it has been pushed back -- then it would be released in July. Guess we will wait and see.

Antz -- Foreman (voice)

Some weirdos may say things like, 'Blah blah Bug's Life blah blah'. Well I say, 'Screw a Bug's Life!' Antz was a great movie. It is also the only movie where Woody Allen has played a character I liked. It's about a cute little ant named 'Z' (Allen) who is different than all the other ants (no he's not gay). He wants to be an individual, do his own thing. Grant does the voice of the Foreman and he is adorable! He makes for a cute ant.

From the Earth to the Moon -- Bob Carbee

I was only able to see bits and pieces of this HBO mini-series. Unfortunately Grant wasn't in any of those bits or pieces. I did notice a few weeks ago that it is out on video and available at Blockbuster. I'll watch the whole thing and review it then, one of these days.

Men Seeking Women -- Les

I read a few reviews on this one, and they were a bit sour. I, however, thought it was great. When three friends find themselves down on their luck in the romance department, one friend (Grant, of course) has the bright idea to make a little wager. They each put up $2000 and the winner is the one who meets a woman and gets her to live with him for three months. I like this movie because it deals with things that other movies tend to ignore -- like unhealthy infatuation. The only problem I had with this movie is that the opening monologue doesn't really make sense when you weigh it with the ending. That's a minor gripe, the movie is charming and funny.

The Distinguished Gentleman -- Arthur Reinhardt

Eddie Murphy is a con-man who happens to share the same name as a congressman. When the congressman dies near election time Eddie Murphy runs for congress. His campaign is based around his name. It works and he is voted in because everyone just votes for the name they know (that's his slogan). Grant is his advisor (or something like that, don't recall his exact title), Arthur Reinhardt. Arthur is... well... a politician, so he's a bit slimy. I don't generally like Eddie Murphy but this movie is very funny. Incidentally, every time I see George W. Bush I think about this movie.

January Man -- Newscaster/Reporter

I haven't seen this one, so no comments.

Wall street -- Young Broker

'Young Broker' is a generic title, not a name (heh). This is a great movie starring Charlie and Martin Sheen. Charlie Sheen is a stockbroker trying to climb his way to the top. He does a lot of dirty things, including selling out his own father (played by Martin Sheen -- ironic, eh?). If you blink you will miss Grant, so don't blink through the entire movie. Actually, Grant is in this party scene and if you are paying attention you will have little trouble spotting him. Just listen for his unmistakable voice. I don't remember his exact line but it seems like it was something like "huge, fucking huge" -- but don't quote me on that.

NOTE: I was WAY off on this one :).  First of all, Grant isn't in a party scene... don't know where that came from.  He is in a sort of montage talking to Charlie Sheen... about someone... I forget who.  He's using "Rambo" as a metaphore.  Just listen for "Rambo" and you will find him.

TELEVISION:

Murphy Brown -- Miles Silverberg

This is Grant's most well-known role to date. Murphy Brown (Candice Bergan) is a reporter for a show called 'FYI'. Grant plays Miles, the executive Producer of 'FYI'. Miles was the reason that "Murphy Brown" was funny. When Grant left the show in 1996 it should have left the air with him, but sadly it didn't. It flopped around like a dying fish for two more years before it finally choked. I was very sad that Grant didn't show up for the final episode, but I was happy they finally put the show out of its misery.

Grant has guest starred on quite a few TV shows. I haven't managed to catch him on most of them. If you want to know more about those check out his Internet Movie Database entry. I am including a brief review of the one guest appearance that I did see.

Murder She Wrote ["Where Have You Gone, Billy Boy?"] -- Woody Perkins

Grant plays a ventriloquist. I haven't seen this for a long time so I may have forgotten some of the plot. The problem was that his dummy (Billy Boy, I think) turned up missing. I think Grant was schizophrenic or something. Of course, there was some guy who died because that is what always happens on "Murder She Wrote". That's about all I remember.

OTHER WORKS:

Torch Song Trilogy (Broadway)

I haven't seen this. I know nothing about it.

Mizlansky/Zilinsky or 'schmucks' -- Miles Brook

This is a play that ran for 4 days in Santa Monica, starring Nathan Lane. I know nothing about it. Nathan Lane has some stuff about it on his website (which is linked above). Rob Morrow (Joel Fleischman from "Northern Exposure") was also in it. Rob Morrow is adorable, as well. Rob Morrow also doesn't seem to have any fan pages -- someone should fix that :).

I haven't been able to verify this one -- but I am sure that I heard Grant's voice on some Total (the cereal) commercials during the "Murphy Brown" days.
