In the "Seyr Stone Universe," Terra-Prime is the name given to our present-day Earth. The majority of human beings alive do not live on Terra Prime, though at least as many people are on Terra Prime as there are today. Terrans (humans) are spread out over the galaxy, mostly keeping to themselves, though, there's a lot of them, so you couldn't exactly call them a 'lonely' people.
The Nentaque are a people group that consider themselves to be non-human, though genetically they are human. They, like the Terrans, have colonised several planets, and have separated into different "nations." They are not as widespread as the Terrans, though when they come into conflict with a Terran society they can be difficult to defeat. The Darren Vaclav series follows Darren at least through the end of the Baern-D'Qulen war. Baern is a star system inhabited primarily by Irish-Terrans, and the D'Qulen are a group of Nentaque.
Also, you are probably wondering what a Seyr Stone is, that's fine, you haven't heard of one. Wonder all you want, I won't be offended. I will, however, offer to educate you in this matter. In the time that all Seyr Stone stories take place, most civilised Terrans carry medallions called, you guessed it, seyr stones. I must point out, these medallions are NOT made out of stone. They are metal-plated, and contain the entire genetic history of the wearer (i.e. the genes of the ancestors of the wearer, a little farther back than seyr stones were available), as well as a library of information about these ancestors, their diaries, and any news items concerning these ancestors. As you may have guessed, this would be the equivalent of several "teraquads" of information (or whatever they call such large amounts of data), obviously, the seyr stones are pretty advanced pieces of technology. I plan on writing many stories for the Seyr Stone universe, but I can tell you I don't plan on making the actual 'stones' prominent parts in any of the stories. The only reason I named the 'universe' after them is because they are the most unique feature of that 'universe.'
The picture above is a concept "drawing" (Using Spatch, Moray, Pov-Ray, and Adobe Photoshop. Yes, I know, major overkill, but that's what it took to get the results I wanted) of Darren's seyr stone, there are, however, many different styles. They perform basically the same function though.
Additionally, I have used some Gaelic in the text. I have absolutely no business doing this, I don't speak any Gaelic. However, I think it adds something in the parts I used it in. If you happen to know what you are doing when it comes to Gaelic, and know what I'm doing wrong, please correct my errors. May my ancestors forgive my travesties against their ancient tongues.
I named the Baern before I knew they were going to be Irish, but only shortly before hand. I have done quite a long search for any potential meanings of the word Baern, and have come up with one meaning so far. In the "Lancashire Dialect" (don't ask how this works, I don't exactly understand it myself) baern means child. Much to my annoyance, this word is apparently borrowed in some form or another from the Old English word, bairn.
Oh, and for those who are wondering, Sean Reilly is my pen name (FinalRain), hope that doesn't throw you off. So, to conclude, the reason I'm telling you all this now (instead of letting you figure it out) is so that you don't spend the entire story trying to figure out "what these seyr stone thingyies are, and how they fit into all this." I think that pretty much wraps it up, I'm sorry this became so long. I certainly didn't intend it to be this lengthy.
