Rack Shack and Benny
What would have happened if Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had all decided to tie their shoes at the same time? I mean, picture this: The king is up there with his really big Chunk-o'-Gold and he tells all the musicians to play their pipes and various musical instruments and everyone bows down to the Great Chunk! He's looking around and sees that even Rack, Shack and Benny are bowing too. He's happy, he gets his way, Rack, Shack and Benny get to stay alive in their current, unburnt state and the only one who loses is God, but he's a patient guy, he'll catch the next round.I think that's one way God could have saved His three guys. He could have made each one, independent of what was going on around them, bend over to tighten his sandals. He didn't. If Rack, Shack or Benny had decided to PRETEND to tie his shoe at just the right time, he would have failed to trust his God to take care of him. That had to have been rough! Think about it, these guys had every reason to expect that they would be killed in a horrible way because of their adherance to the rules God set down! They knew, just as we know, that God doesn't always step in and fix things just the way WE want them or the way we think they should be. He has His own plan and His own way of doing things, it's our job to trust that He's right about what He's doing. If Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had not chosen to obey God even though it meant they were probably going to die, God would not have been glorified by His miracle, the king would not have been converted, even in part and our three boys would not have benefitted from the blessing of a close walk with God. They had their faith and trust in God tested and they passed with flying colors! I wish I could have been there to witness the miracle that day.
