After way too long, One-Eighty
is BACK! It remains to be seen whether I can put out an issue every
month, as in the good ol' days. So for now it's "whenever I feel
like it and have the time."
Time. It's something in short supply for all of us. Very few people are employed by the proSouthern movement and are able to devote their whole workday to the cause. Most of us are volunteers, doing what we can as time and our own money permit. A full-time job that requires a several-hours commute at least twice a week takes much of my time, but it is necessary for the support of myself and my family. I also share the care of my elderly parents with my sister. It's a God-given obligation we are happy to carry out. Our parents took good care of us when we were growing up (an understatement, really -- they often went above and beyond the requirements). I'm glad we can take care of them in their sunset years. Family comes before proSouthernism. Indeed, family is a big part of proSouthernism. Right now, when our region, our culture and our people -- the people who comprise our families -- are under such attack, I want to do whatever I can, as time and obligations permit, to strengthen and advance our movement. So One-Eighty is back. In this issue we will look at the similarities between two very different funerals in June, one of them being that of Alberta Martin, the last living Confederate widow then known about. Then we'll take a quick look at one Heidi Beirich of the Southern Poverty Law Center who hates the SCV for some reason -- and who has, for the first time I know of -- defined "neo-Confederate." We'll also revisit the Florida SCV auto tag issue and look at some news-crumbs from the Empire. Welcome back, and we hope you enjoy your visit! |
