Comments: I played twin fiddles with another man and we were noted as the boys in the Brazos Valley Band. We had a man that could sing so much like Hank Thompson that when people walked into the hall of 2500 people dancing, they thought we were with Hank & the Brazo Boys. The leader of our band was "Tex Mit.chel" I introduced him to Hank at the Evergreen Ballroom in Lacey, WA. when he appeared. Hank is 2 years younger than I am but I still play my violin along with him and the Brazo Boys with the recordings I have. I would think that my favorite is Have I Told You Lately That I love You Thank you for this!

Comments: My interest in country music started in the late 40s and has never left me. It has become so hard to locate what I call country music anymore that most of my listing is at home. One radio station in this area still plays real country music on Saturday from noon to 6 :PM. It starts with the Eddie Stubbs show for three hours and then three hours of Jerry Gray. The station is 88.5 FM, American University, just outside of Washington, DC. The signal is not always good here at the house and I will try to plan to be in the car at least for part of Saturday. Waiting for an FM antenna to be put up here at the house. I think I can spend the rest of this year as well as most of next just reviewing you site. It's great, I'll be back. Keep up the good work.

Comments: Hank & Ann, I see that dad's nephew, Tom Merritt, got to see you in Dothan. We have all been blessed with your music in our lives. Your phone call to dad the week he passed away will always be rememberd by everyone that was there to see it. Daddy didn't quit grinning the rest of his life, saying, what did I do to deserve his call. At dad's eulogy, we listed dad's best memory as 12/02/95, when dad (Dave Davis) got to open the show for you in Wiersdale, Fla. I treasure that tape so much these days. I'm glad some of dad's nephews and great nephews got to see you. Would have loved to be there, but couldn't get the info. until it was too late! Call sometime!

Comments: When I was stationed in Hawaii in 1950 & 51 I used to get up at 2 am in the morning just to listen to the Hank Thompson Radio Show. At the time their jukeboxes had operators that when you put your money in they asked what artist and song you wanted. My request was always for Hank Thompson.

Comments: I was looking for a song that I believe was recorded by you in the late 50's or early 60'. The only words that stick in my mind are "And they called our love a back street affair" It is a lot like my favorite song of yours "Yesterday's Girl".
FYI: Sound's like "Back Street Affair" by Webb Pierce . . .

Comments: For the past two years I have embarked on a singing career of my own. In doing so, I have even won a couple awards. One of them being the Country Music Singers Assn. of Oklahoma. and Male Traditional Vocalist of the year in Oklahoma. But next May I will have achieved my greatest honor yet. In a small town called Schidler, Oklahoma, there is a country music opry called Bill Brown's Oklahoma Jubilee. I sang there three weeks ago and they were impressed with my singing ability enough that they asked me to sing with Hank
Thompson when he comes to the Okla. Jubilee. Since we both love the old traditional country music, I think it will be a great show.

Comments: How can I get nonbackup vocal, sound track tapes for SIX PACK TO GO by Hank Thompson, BADLY BENT, by The Tractors, and SETTIN' THE WOODS ON FIRE by Hank Williams Sr.? How can a poor simple man get the OK to use christian lyrics to these songs? My personal use would only be in local churches. However, I'm thinking about sending my lyrics to a publisher. Would they be responsible for making the arrangements to use the original tunes? I have written several songs to country tunes and have had several to tell me that they are good. There is an audience out there which would enjoy these tunes but do not listen to songs about wine and women. I think these are great tunes and deserve a broader audience.

He put on a wonderful show and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He signed autographs and we had our picture taken with him. We bought a CD while there and we are listening to it right now. We really enjoy his music. Keep up the good work, Hank!

Comments: I have been a Hank Thompson fan eversince I first heard him. I liked the big band sounds and the way the band did those big Pop numbers on the LP's I saw him one night when I was at the University of Texas at Austin and he was great. I'm 70 years old and still like the old "stuff" best. I do like George Strait--He quite often does things in Hank's style and some good old Bob Wills music. I was in college on the GI bill but after seeing Hank I went out and bought a Bigsby tail piece for my Gibson ES300 guitar. Oh, I was a BSEE major like Hank but not near the guitar player or singer. I wound up in Alabama with a United Technologies company and a Music Minister in the Baptist Church. Keep that Hank Thompson music going, it's the best there is!

Comments: Hank was a great innovator and debuted many great things in his younger days. Dubert Dobson was my father the trumpet player for Hank Thompson until 1962. I like your web site very much and appreciate your efforts. However in my biased opinion the band had a huge part in this success story. So it’s a bit disappointing that you barely mentioned them in the text. I realize that it is a link on Hank Thompson but unlike other artists his name is seldom said and not followed by "the Brazos Valley Boys".
