Comments: Hank Snow was one of a kind. Such a fine guitar style and long, successful career. He recorded over 1000 songs, helped Elvis early in Presley's career, recorded with the likes of Willie Nelson and Chet Atkins, and helped abused kids. I sent Hank some of my songs and he wrote me a nice note in return with a signed photograph. When I went to Nashville for a gig and to be a tourist, I spoke with Hank on the phone. He took time to chat with a fan passing through and to invite me backstage at the Opry that night.
I read his autobiography in '96 and often listen to his tunes. At 85 he had a good, long life, but I was sad to hear of his passing.

Comments: I first heard I'm Movin' On as a GI in Germany in 1950. For months it was played every day on the 3:00 PM Country show on AFN and everything just sort of stopped when that song came on. It beacame a saying in the Army when a soldier got transferred to say, "I've been Hank Snowed". I loved that song, still have it on an old tape. I like about everything I ever heard Hank do but especiially, I Don't Hurt Anymore and Madison Madness. That's good guitar. I don't listen to current country anymore because as Hank said here, it just ain't real country, like Hank snow and the other Hanks and Ernest all the others around the 40s and 50s. Like your site.

Comments: I agree with Hank Snow that today's country music is not worth listening to. I wish more radio stations would play the old country music and do it at the time people could listen to it not at 2 in morning. It is very hard to get good country music in our area because we are to close to Chicago and it is more modern country.

Unique vocal style, versatility, excellent guitar solos are what makes Hank so special. His "Tales of the Yukon" album introduced me to the work of Robert Service whose poetry I love and whose books I collect. Does anyone have any information on how Hank is nowadays? Heard he was ill.

Comments: I met Hank thru Bob Williams, a fellow light plane pilot, who was a good friend of Hank's. Hank invited me down to his house on Marthonia Drive in Madison, which I gladly took advantage of. I've been out of touch with Hank for years. I've heard that he's in a nursing home now but I don't know if that's true. I don't even know if his wife is still alive. Some "fan" I am! I have almost all of Hank's recordings. I'm not exactly a collector, I just like his music. I drive my wife nuts around the house here singing Hank's songs. She likes Hank OK. It's my singing she can't stand. Bob Williams was a dick jockey on WHLD radio in Niagara Falls. He passed away a few years ago. I'd like to be in touch with some of Hank's fans but I really don't know where to go on this computer. This (the computer) is new to me and there's a lot that I don't know (an understatement) about it. The only thing I can do is go back & correct my typographical errors. If some Hank fans want me to tape some of his music for free (send me the tapes), I'd be more than glad to. You say you're a college man. Do you know Hank? What's your major? Any info you can give me about yourself & Hank would be greatly appreciated. I just got a shock. Tonight, I learned that a favorite rockabilly singer of mine passed away 3 months ago today. Buddy Knox! Hula Love, Party Doll, etc. He was my favorite after Hank. Too bad!

Comments: Can you assist me in finding out if the album Hank Snow's Souvenirs, featuring These Hands and Mother was ever put on C.D. My dad had the album and it is quite worn now and I would love to get it on CD but can't find it anywhere.

Comments: Hi there young fella'! Nice to see that there is someone keeping the good old country music up and running. I have been collecting Hank Snow for more than 35 years now (and managed to get quite an extensive library together)and although my taste has widened over the years I still hold him in high esteem.

Comments: Hank Snow "chummed" around with my uncle, Russell Sewell,"Kye", as a young man in Canada. Some years later when Hank Snow was crossing the border into Canada from Calais, Maine my uncle was on the border station where his crossed. Uncle Russell was thrilled to see his childhood chum again. I often wonder if Hank Snow remembers that. I have a cassette tape of Hank's where he is telling of his terribly trumatic childhood and knowing the background of people back then I know it must be true. I did let Uncle Russell borrow my tape and he was very much appreciative for it. My uncle is gone now and I have my tape back. I would dearly love to meet Hank Snow someday. I don't get to St. Stephens, New Brunswick much anymore but still have some relatives left there that I go to see when I can. My dream is to go to Nashville someday. Please, please if you ever see Hank Snow tell him for me "hello" and mention my uncle to him. Thank you. I have several of Hanks' lp's and listen to them often. They bring back many memories. Thanks for listening.

Comments: My Father was adopted and his adoptive mother (my grandmother) told me that his father is Hank Snow's brother. I just wanted to know if this is true, do you have a brother and did he have any children? Please let me know, I know nothing about my dad's side of the family.
FYI: I have no information on Hank's brother, if he had one. Can anyone else help out here?

Comments: Guess you could say I like the old country. Don't care much for any of ... whatever it is that I hear on the country radio stations these days. I will say there is WXRL out of Buffalo, NY that plays it's share of the Hank Snow era stuff. Incidently, I got to this site by listening to the Ernest Tubb show last night after the show on WSM.

Comments: Hank Snow was and always will be my Father Lorne's Idol. My Father also sang and wrote many songs, and to close your eyes and listen, you'd think that was
Hank himself. My Father recieved many a standing ovation in various outings when he would get on stage and do Hank's I'm Moving On. Hank's songs were sang to us
right from the craddle and all seven children sing and do a little writing. Hank's truthful songs and the delevery of his songs where definitly Heaven sent.
Please say Hello to him if you have a chance. He just might remember my Father Lorne Stefanson.

Comments: Hank Snow is being greatly overlooked with regards to his contributions to the Grand Ole Opry and country music (in general). For example, the TNN Series called "Life and Times Of ..." is failing to do give recognition to his achievements. I do trust that early in 2000, the Grand Ole Opry will recognize (in a grand manner) his 50 years as a member of the OPRY (Jan 7, 1950 was the date he joined the OPRY). Finally, wouldn't it be great if RCA would make available to the U.S. and Canadian markets, a nice box set of his great hits (maybe even some recordings from the Prince Albert portion of the OPRY - recordings held by the Country Music Foundation in Nashville). Thank you, Hank for many fabulous moments of wholesome entertainment!

I now have three of the six boxed sets issued by Bear Family (20CD's), and look forward to obtaining a fourth soon. He's been my favourite for the past 40 years and I really will visit this site on a regular basis. Keep up the good work, and thanks, Joe.
