Inno3D Tornado GeForce SDR Review by Dean

Introduction:

Manufactured by: Inno3D
This card was received from AxisGlobal

Well, updates have been slow and all but we're back.   Sad to say, we've had a few problems with our current host.  Right now, we're trying to find someone who'll host us.

Anyways, it was just a normal LAN party that happened at the OCManila Lab and I was there along with some friends.  Our Affiliate, OCManila headed by Micoh Dude was kind enough to pick up some stuff from Axis Global.

To cut the story short, I was given the task to review a Video Card based on NVidia's GeForce 256 engine.  What I got was a GeForce SDR named Inno3D Tornado GeForce 256.

First look:

Here's an image of the card

This GeForce SDR card is based on NVidia's reference design.  It looks much like those cards that are just plain cards.  The box is pretty nice too...but still not as funky as the Annihilator series and 3D Prophet Series by Creative Labs and Guillemot respectively.

The card comes in a yellowish PCB and not the usual green one.  This SDR card also goes with the usual heatsink/fan used on the Asus V6600 Pure card.  Nothing fancy about this card's cooling.  Aside from the PCB and heatsink/fan, this card makes use of Samsung chips for its ram.  The ram is only located on one side of the card to that'd make it a 4X8MB ram format.  The ram is rated at 6ns by the way.

What else is inside:

Well, when I got this card for reviewage, I didn't just get the card but the whole box as well.  Inno3D got some nice goodies inside.  Of course, you'll get the standard installation guide and installation CD which contains reference driver set.  Since this is a GeForce based card, you'll also get the NVidia demo CD which showcases the GeForce 256's new features that make it different from the rest.

So that makes 2 CD's already.  A CD of 3DMark2000 Pro was also included as well as InterVideo WinDVD 2000.  Well, 3dMark2000 Pro is for benchmarking and the InterVideo WinDVD 2000 is for watching DVD's.

Comments:

As you can clearly see, this card is a serious type of card.  Nothing fancy at all.  You only get the basics.  No TV-out, no funky fans, no bundled games.
