Ultimate Diabolo Trick Guide

Suicides

As you can probably guess from the name, suicides can be very spectacular tricks. Any trick where you let go of one (or more!) of the handsticks is a suicide. The best bit of advice I can give you for this is practice on something soft. Handsticks can break very easily when smashed against the floor!

Simple Suicide

The speed of the Diabolo is not a major concern in this trick, but get it going with some speed. Then swing it to the right-hand side as if you're about to do Around the World (with a stopover. After the Diabolo swings just pass stick height, let go of your left handstick.

The Diabolo will swing round, hopefully with the handstick following. To begin with, aim to catch the stick directly over your right hand. Warning, the stick can be travelling fast and rather uncontrollably when you first try this so be careful.

Hopefully, the stick will land perfectly in your hand and you can carry on going. Unfortunately this rarely happens, and the string may end up wrapping round your hand (assuming you catch it), or you may catch the string yourself. Don't worry, this is a difficult trick.

Around the World Suicide

First of all, make sure you can do Around the World (with a stopover) first, as this is an extension of that trick.

Perform Around the World (with a stopover as normal. Just as the Diabolo lands on the string, let go of your right handstick. It should begin to swing round like in Simple Suicide.

Let it swing all the way round and catch it the smae way as Simple Suicide.
