THE BLESSING OF A CRACKED POT
A water bearer in India had two large pots.
Each hung on each end of a pole which
he carried across the neck. One of the
pots had a crack in it and the other was
perfect. The cracked pot would allways
lose half of its water on the way to
the masters house. Two straight years
the pot only delivered half of the water,
and two straight years he was sad. Of course
the perfect pot allways delivered the water
fully. It was proud and bragged often. One
day the cracked pot said to the water bearer.
"I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize
to you." "Why," the water bearer asked. "I have
been unable to deliver all my water for the past
two years," the pot answered. The water bearer
felt sorry for the pot, in his compassion he said,
"as we return to the masters house I want you to
notice the flowers along the path. Indeed, as
they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took
notice of the sun warming the beautiful flowers.
This cheered up the pot a bit. But at the end
of the trail it still felt bad because it had not
delivered a full load. It apologized to the water
bearer again, but the water bearer replied,"Did you notice
those flowers on your side of the path,
but not on the perfect pots side. That
is because I have allways know about your flaw.
I took advantage of it and planted flower seeds
on your side. Everyday while we walk back from
the stream, you water the plants. For two years
I have been able to pick those flowers and decorate
my masters table with them. Without you being the
way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace
his house." Each of us have our own unique flaws,
were all cracked pots. But if we allow it, the Lord
will use our flaws to grace His Father's table. In
God's great economy nothing goes to waste.
