Anders Leonardsson was born on February 18th

fathers name Zorn who was a German brewer

Academy of Fine Art's preparatory school. He
studied, among other things, painting, drawing
and sculpturing. In 1879 he passed his studies at
the Royal Academy of Fine Art. He received his
diploma on the 28 of June. In the spring of 1881,
Anders Zorn met Emma Lamm and on June 2,
they were secretly engaged. Zorn died 1920.

MY THOUGHTS

Anders Zorn has made a lot of paintings that
show situations that I find really swedish,
especially paintings from Dalarna. He has also
painted a lot of portraits, but what I personally
like the most is the pictures of the nude women.
When I look at fashionmodels of today I can't see
the real beauty that Zorn found when he picked
his subjects.

JOHN BAUER A BIOGRAFHY

John Bauer was born in Jönköping in 1882. Only
16 years old he went to Stockholm to begin his
art studies and two years later he was accepted
as student at the Royal Academy of Art. In 1907
John Bauer began his illustrations for 'Bland
Tomtar och Troll' [Among Pixies and Trolls].
Bauer became the great fairy-tale artist to the
Swedish people. With the exception of 1911,
Bauer illustrated Bland Tomtar och Troll. At the
same time, On the 20th of November 1917, the
canal boat Per Brahe sank in Lake Vättern en
route to Stockholm, and with it perished John
Bauer and his whole family - his wife Esther and
his three-year-old son, Putte
Painting by John Bauer called Tuvstarr

THE FAIRY-TALE ARTIST

The first volume of Bland Tomtar och Troll
(Among Pixies and Trolls), a collection of
fairy-tales written by several Swedish authors,
was published in 1907. In these, we find many of
John Bauer's most famous pictures such as
Princess Tuvstarr, forever contemplating the
black waters of the tarn. It is the eyes that make
John Bauer's troll different, they seem so friendly.
With their different and limited ways of thinking,
the trolls do not understand the human world, but
in their eyes we sense a good- natured and
curious interest. With wonder they stare at the
translucent Princess - how could they possibly
harm her!He had created the fairy-tale art and
made it his own.I would say his way of painting
would go very well with the style of books that
are so popular today called "fatasy".
