Don't Want To Go Here On Your Own!

Click
Here for a Virtual Tour of the Lava Fields
The
lava is always flowing somewhere but getting there requires guides,
equipment, and years of experience to know what's safe and what
isn't. We have all of the expertise and equipment required for a safe
and memorable journey. For current eruption information click
here.
From
the end of the Chain of Craters Road you'll hike between 2 1/2 and 3
1/2 miles to the current lava flow. The lava is best viewed at night
so we depart at a time which coincides with arrival just before
sunset. The hike across the lava fields is spectacular in itself as
you'll pass over many unusual formations and lava which may only be a
few weeks old. If the lava is flowing into the sea, large steam
plumes will be in view all the way. After watching this awesome
display we'll put on our headlamps and man our flashlights for the
journey back to the road.
Your
guide knows the way, he's been there many times, and is expert at
finding skylights (collapsed lava tubes containing molten lava). This
is very important as there is NO MARKED TRAIL to the flow and
locations and conditions can change daily. And you don't want to fall
into a lava tube!
So
join us for the hike of a lifetime and live to tell about it!
