Sept 7-9	ACGA US National Mòd An Comunn Gaidhealach-America (ACGA) will host the 14th US National Mòd at the Ligonier Highland Games near Pitsburgh, Pennsylvania The Mòd is a competition held to stimulate interest and develop high standards in spoken and sung Gaelic. Patterned after the Royal National Mòd which began in Oban, Scotland in 1892, the ACGA National Mòd is a place where students and speakers of the language can come together to both demonstrate their abilities and learn from others. Here in North America, the ACGA Mòd introduces hundreds of spectators to Scottish Gaelic poetry, prose and song each year through competitions, ceilidhs and workshops. We make a special effort to help newcomers enter Gaelic studies and Mòd activities, and we certainly hope to greet many new and old friends. In addition to the competitions, the Mòd welcomes presentations by Gaelic study groups. In the past we have had Gaelic skits and work-song demonstrations during intervals in the competitions.
